Chemical thermodynamics Energy and enthalpy
Stumbled upon such thermodynamic parameter as "Enthalpy of chemical bond". Is it a synonym to energy of the bond? 'Couse it's really convenient to calculate bond energy in such way
@chaoticgood Yes, they are synonyms, but not the binding energy, but the dissociation energy of the bond. Although some authors say that there is a difference in terms. In any case, both the enthalpy of the bond and the dissociation energy of the bond is the enthalpy change that is required to break one mole of a chemical bond.
@damiryagudin Thank you! It's so confusing to have 3 terms for 1 phenomenon
Yes, it is inconvenient, indeed, the concept of the enthalpy of a chemical bond, as a function of the state of a thermodynamic system, will be more correctly applicable for thermodynamic calculations.
