How does mood rings work? What do they sense to change colors?

A mood ring is a ring that contains a temperature-sensitive element, such as liquid crystal. The color of the element changes depending on the temperature of the wearer's finger.

@argentum Well, maybe it's not that "magical" after all. I think mood of the person can impact his/her temperature
