Because 13C have spin = 1. Each of the states has the same probability of existence.

Hi! This peak shape is formed as a result of the splitting of the carbon signal into the deuterium atom, since the deuterium spin is 1, then the 2n+1 rule applies to it, that is, if there is one deuterium atom next to the carbon, the carbon multiplet will have three peaks, if there are two atoms deuterium - 5 and so on
